Letters of Reference from our Clients

When our puppies and dog go to their new homes we always keep in touch to ensure that our dogs and their new families are happy and pleased with their addition. Here are some quotes from recent letters and e-mails we would like to share with you.

Hey Haynes,

I trust all is well at the Double-T. Anyway, I just wanted to drop you a note about how it was going with Zuni (TTF Zuni Kilkenny) who was from a William x Sadie litter last year. It's hard to believe he's already 14 months. You can see in the attached pics how he's grown from the day we got him and now.

He's been a joy with our girls and we get comments all the time how he's the most calm Lab that folks have ever met. He is progressing quite well in his obedience training, but we're just very happy that he's become a member of our family.

We also just got back from a reunion with Zulu, the other California Double-T gun dog. It's great that she's achieved her full certification as a search and rescue dog and we think it's good for the Double-T cousins to get together.

Stay in touch,

Ron

Haynes,

Kate and I wanted to thank you again for the wonderful puppy. “Caedo” is doing great. He is very smart, has a great temperament, already has a great nose, and is picking up everything I am trying to teach him easy and quick. We introduced him to some warm pond water at 10 weeks and he took right to it. Also here is a picture of him retrieving at 10 weeks. He brings it all the way back to me and holds it until I say drop with very little work and he enjoys it a lot.

Haynes,
I hope all is well with you. Gus isdoing great. Lots of drive, an excellentnose and a very happy personality. Thought you might like to see some pictures. He looks like his mother.

Best regards,

Haynes,
We just wanted you to know that we are so pleased with our Bill from the Sept 06 Bracken/Belle litter. Bill was born with good manners and has been so easy to have in our home. We have young nieces that come over and he is so gentle with them. My husband has always said that you never have to get harsh with Bill just show him what you want and he will catch on immediately. They worked on routine commands and some fetching over the winter. At the end of March they stepped up the training in a farmer's field. Larry is just thrilled with how Bill is responding. The ice is finally out and Bill is starting his first water retrieves. We now know that we have a water dog! Thank you so much for a great dog.

Larry and Harmony Lennox

Haynes,

Just wanted to give you a quick report on the puppy you sent us in December. He is a male out of Bracken and Belle and 6 months old. He is a great dog and have been thoroughly pleased with his temperament and need to please. My two kids (Mia 4 and Mason 2) just adore him. He has picked up basic obedience commands very quickly and retrieves everything. I've attended a few events put on by the local Great Lakes chapter of Hunting Retriever Club and everyone was impressed at a resent upland hunt test they put on. He was naturally steady to the shot and has great bird finding ability.

I have one quick question for you. Several of the members of the club were asking me if I was going to "force fetch" him in the near future. I wasn't sure this was a good idea because Barley has a great desire to please and perform whatever commands I give him, but I have seen him back away when I get forceful with him and I don't want to take that desire to naturally please away. Just wanted to get your thoughts on this training method with the British labs and what "force fetching" technique you use if any.

I've included a picture.

Thanks again,
Mike Phillips

Haynes,
Thanks for your hospitality and the new pup. We named her Belle, but that may be a bit soft for her. She is quite bold but has bonded well.

We’ve only had her three week or so and she has met or exceeded expectations. I have never had a pup bring the first dummy I threw to hand…she did. I have never had a pup not break at the first dummy thrown when the dog was at sit-stay…she did. We have just started shooting the blank gun while retrieving and she is doing well with this. She has been undaunted by the snow and drifts we have charging into them to play and retrieve.

Housebreaking is coming along a bit slower than I would like but based on everything else I have seen she will be just fine.

Sorry it has taken me so long to send an e-mail back. Between work and the new pup things have been busy around here.

I’ll keep you posted on her progress.

Thanks again,

Mike and Margaux Genoff

Hey Haynes,
I just returned from a North Dakota pheasant hunt. I had one of your pups (Ruth * Patch) out for the first time. Hector is a natural. By the third day he was regulary flushing birds and his desire and drive became very evident. He is very disciplined at the same time, responding to whistle commands as flawlessly as a pup of his maturity can. I had to rest him at the end of the week because this little 22 week old puppy was beating himself up too much. Nothing was too gnarly or thick for him to push through. He needless to say exceeded my expectations.

Thanks
Jonathon Tepley and very bird crazy Hector

Hey Haynes,
Just wanted to thank you for remembering me with the Double T hat. As for our pup that we got from you(Beech x Bute litter) , things are going great. Needless to say, he was a big hit for the kids as a Christmas present(picture included). Moose is really a good dog, easy to house train, teach to hold steady, fantastic confirmation, and just a good all around pet. We are very pleased we found you and your fine operation. Hope to see you soon.

Best regards,
The Frank Brumfield Family

Dear Haynes,

Happy New Year!

Attached are some pictures of our boys with their new best friend, "George"!

George is doing great. He had a check-up with the vet on Dec. 26th and had his shots. He is eating and sleeping very well and loves to play outside. We love him and we're so happy that he is with us!

Thanks again. Best wishes to you and your family,
Margo, Brian, Blake, Trevor....and George Sbrocco

Haynes,

This is Will Englefield you sold me a pup in July and my Dad a pup in April. Just wanted to let you know she has been a great dog for me and my wife. We named her Britain. She is great in the house and in the water. In October, and November at 5, 6 months old she has been hunting ducks with me and has been excellent. I couldn't ask for a better family and hunting dog. I sent a picture of her at 5 months with her first duck. I am also looking to get another dog this spring. I am looking for a yellow female with a more golden color rather than blonde. I was wondering if you might have something like this for the spring? Have a Merry Christmas and let me know if you might have a litter with those descriptions.

Thanks, Will Englefield

Haynes,

I just thought I would send you a note about Piper ( Bracken x Belle). What a wonderful girl she is! Very intelligent and quite birdy. She will be 12 weeks old tomorrow and is doing great. We plan to start puppy obedience after Christmas and we have already been doing some simple retreives with dummies. I have attached a few photos.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Jon Sullivan

Haynes, here is Bear, fromBeech/BonnieMating. He is seven weeks old. He picked up this pheasant and carried it back to me. Double TT Labs are the best British Labs going. I appreciate all your help in picking out Bear and your concern about how well he is doing. He is a great pup and will grow into a great dog. Thanks for all your help.My friend was so impressed with bear that he also got a Double TT Lab. It also is doing very well.

Thanks, Casey Malek, Men's Golf Coach, Dodge City Community College, Dodge City, Kansas

Haynes,

I thought you'd like to see what one of the pups out of the Braken X Ally litter whelped in 2004 did this past summer. She ran NAHRA and went 16 out of 17 passes at senior and attained her Grand Master Hunting Retriever title in September. She was not ready for her
first hunt test in March but after that she did not skip a beat. She is about 55 lbs, extremely fast, is a joy to train, a treat to handle, and fun to have around.

Thanks,

Bruce Jenkins

Haynes,

It has now been about a month and a half since Corinne and I picked up Emma in Wichita and I am glad to report that she is doing fantastically well. She has been well socialized and gets along very well with other dogs and people. She is almost potty trained and already has the basic commands down pat. It is amazing how quickly she learns and her desire to please. She retrieves well and has done many water retrieves at the nearby beach (we practice daily). There is nothing she likes better than retrieving (except eating). I have included some pictures below; we have hundreds more!

I look forward to sending you a picture of Emma with a pheasant in her mouth next Fall.

Regards,

Bill

P.S. By way of contrast to our wonderful experience with Emma, I wanted to tell you about another couple who we met on the beach while walking Emma. They had adopted a lab from a well know breeder in Northern California who we had actually considered, given the timing we would probably had selected a pup from the same litter. This breeder is the prototypical field trial American lab breeder (big dogs, aggressive, hyper, etc.) and we have seen them and their dogs at local hunting / fishing shows. This couple had bags under their eyes and asked us "how are we coping with our puppy?" As we raved about the calm, intelligent, well-behaved pup we had their mouths dropped. They hadn't slept in weeks, couldn't control their puppy, and were thinking of returning their pup to the breeder. Some folks have thought that I was crazy going to Kansas to get a puppy when there are a number of breeders nearby; I now know I would walk to Kansas to pick up Emma.

Haynes,

It is hard to believe that Zulu is almost 11 months old!

In my house you are referred to as “Uncle Haynes”. I still remember the first time you and I spoke… I having just lost my search dog and desperate to get a puppy… you were kind, understanding! Truly, what sets you and your dogs apart is your in depth knowledge and understanding of the Brit labs bloodline. You were extremely patient with my questions of the pedigree and which bloodline brought which traits. I felt very comfortable flying half way across the country to evaluate your dogs! I really appreciated the amount of time you allowed us in evaluating the pups!

Zulu will become a wonderful search partner. It is difficult to explain the dynamic between a search dog and its handler. It is truly special, we rely on each other… and to boot someone’s lifejust might be at stake! Zulu is exactly what I was looking for… she is sweet and plays well with my nephews, but can really turn it on in the field. She is fast, athletic, agile, but thinks clearly when “in drive”. Training Zulu has been so much fun! Thank you for producing such wonderful, versatile dogs!

I will be in touch!

Eugenia
