Well the season is over. Hector ended up winning 9 Championship Titles in the puppy and open divisions with numerous top five finishes. I think he
has a total of 50 top five finishes in his 11/2 year career. I attached a
list for you to check out. I don't have the time progress him further as
far as handling work so he is going in to Holzingers kennel for some work
next week. Hopefully, we'll get some hunt tests in later this summer. We
have off for a few months and then next up is a labor day tournament and the World Championships in October.

Thanks for the support,
Jonathon

Hi Haynes,

I hope all is well at Double T. Max (Beech/Brambles Nov 07) is doing great. Snow and ice storms have limited our hunting a bit, but Max has done great in his second season. He loves to hunt and loves to please. He is also an irreplaceable member of our family. My boys
love him. Keep up the great work! Here's a pic of he with my boys enjoying the latest OK snow.

Haynes:

Just wanted to drop you a quick note to tell you how happy I have been with Gabby, the red female from the Teddy x Sadie breeding whelped on 7/30/08. This was her first year hunting and what a great time we had! Took her to KS pheasant hunting a number of times and shot ducks and geese with her here in Oklahoma. She is everything I wanted to include a small dog with a great temperament, well-behaved around the house, and a fireball in the field. I couldn't be happier with her at this point -- thanks for the great breeding! I also want to put in a good word for Dale Taylor from Hallam, NE who trained her. She is the dog in the picture you have of Dale on your website. I wanted training with an upland emphasis and Dale did a great job. Don't want to clog up your email with pictures, but am attaching a couple so that you can see what a handsome dog she turned out to be. Happy New Year to you and your family and keep up the good work breeding.

Haynes,

Happy Holidays! Hope all is well! Just wanted to tell you about Parley, of Beech/Missy, who I got from you in June of '08. She's doing wonderful, and is the most intelligent, and BEAUTIFUL dog I have ever encountered. She has the sweetest personality, and wants to be everybody's friend. It's amazing the ability she has to be social, but also know that at any time she needs to be mindful of our presence. She does EVERYTHING she is asked to do, at any time, regardless of whether she's over-excited, or being as lazy as she can be! She has been a major joy around the house for myself, my girlfriend, and also those that visit. I am so very proud of her. I haven't even mentioned the field, yet! We finally got to work dove in the field this late summer, early fall and she did fantastic! She retrieved every bird with ease, even though her training had not been performed for field activity! How impressive is that!? We've been out duck hunting a number of times, and she has been a champion through the cold waters, consistently picking up the ducks that we bring down! She sure is a pretty girl, and is my pride and joy, and she never leaves my side! Thank you for providing such a wonderful, life-changing experience for me! I hope you have a Merry Christmas, and that your holidays are filled with joy!

Sincerely,
Beau Browning

Haynes,

Just wanted to send you a pic from South Dakota. The boys did great, they are such a pleasure to hunt over. Dakota (sally x beech black) just turned one and made some great retrieves.

Thanks again

Haynes,

Long time no contact. Sorry it has taken me so long to let you know how the dogs (Boone and Belle that we got last November) are doing but is has been a busy year with kid’s and trying to train the dogs and life in general. Both dogs are absolutely amazing they have been easy to train and both of our families truly love them. I have attached the most recent pictures to post on your website. I wanted to let you know that we had a scare a couple of months ago James Blakenship my buddy that bought the female and came with me to your place last November was diagnosed with cancer in the throat and lymph node in his neck. He completed his chemo and radiation treatment this past week and will have a CT scan around thanksgiving to see if they got everything so we are praying for a clean bill on the scan. This has put a damper on out hunting and training the past two months but we will be going strong soon. I also wanted to ask you for some info on a good late season hunting destination for some upland birds that will not break the bank somewhere in and around your neck of the country. Thanks again for the pups and hope to here from you soon.

Haynes:
Banks has been a wonderful addition to our family. This picture was taken
on his fourth day with us. He and Fred are best buddies and she helps burn off the puppy energy.

We are all amazed at how calm he is--he will sit quietly and watch the cats, someone cooking in the kitchen, etc. It is like having a two-year old dog's spirit in a puppy's body. Awesome combination!

We continue to sing your praises and send people to your website when they comment on our dogs. I can't imagine obtaining a dog from anyone but you!!!!!

Thanks!!

Had to send a couple of images from opening weekend. This is Riley, 6 months old. Haines I am no professional trainer but I know dogs and this one is special. He is going to be really good and he is going to get there way before he probably should. He also has a very special personality and fits in as well in my kennal as he does in my home. Thank you for making him possible.

Darren Bennett

Hi Haynes,

Thought you might like an update on Riley. He is doing great. Shot a lot of birds over him this season and he really seemed to just turn on in Dec. Like he just really got it one day. We are working on handling now and he is quickly picking up hand signals and getting better every day.
Attached are a couple of images. One a late season retrieve and the other from a shoot we did after the last snow storm. As my agency starts to sell some images of him I will maybe be able to get you samples of calanders and stuff like that.
Hope you are having a great year. Maybe stop in to see you when I come out to fish Marion later in the month.

Haynes,

Just wanted to give you an update on Beech / Brambles pup that I got from you last summer. He is doing really well. He is very good on his obedience and is working on marks. He could be running for his junior title now, but I am waiting til fall. I am really happy with him and he is doing great. I have enclosed a couple of pics for you to see. He is going to be a very pretty dog. Looks like a Black version on Beech.

Haynes,

I took a few pictures out in the snow today of Salem, it was not easy as he would stay close to me when I had the camera, then when I told him to stay he would sit. I wanted to get you a nice picture of him standing but this will need to do for now. I also have a picture with my daughter from a
few months ago.

Hi Haynes,

The ducks have arrived in Oklahoma in fantastic numbers. Max (11/22/07 Brambles X Beech) is seeing lots of ducks in front of him. The improvement he has shown from the beginning of the season to now is impressive. I'm certainly looking forward to the last 6 weeks of waterfowl season. His enthusiasm to hunt is phenomenal. Any sight of camo clothing or the shotgun and he is ready to go. Here's the latest picture of Max and some of his prizes. We had to break ice on this hunt and he had no problem going into the water for his retrieves. Keep up the great work!

Happy Holidays!

Haynes,

Please find attached some pictures from last year's hunting season from my little Sadie. She was born in May of 07 so all of these pictures are of her when she was not even a year old.

I know I went against conventional wisdom by hunting her at a young age but she just has so much drive and determination. She loves to retrieve. She is a real pleaser too and a joy to work with.

As you can see from some of the pics that she also went on a few quail hunts with me and my shorthairs. The first time she saw a covey of quail flush and a bird go down she was on it "lickity split". I actually thought I ruined her because I looked around and she was not in sight. However, she came running out of the plumb thicket as proud as can be with the quail proudly displayed which she properly delivered to hand. UNBELIEVABLE.

My son and I hunt often with her (upland and ducks) and I just wanted to let you know how pleased we are with her. Not only is she a great gun dog but a great addition to our family too.

Steve

Haynes,

Our season is in full swing and Gracie is learning every outing! She has had 2 - 12 duck hunts and 1 -10 duck hunt with a number of 4 and 5 retrieve hunts mixed in. She is really picking up different scenarios of cripples, marking and long drops. She is so steady, I just cannot believe it. Absolutely NO sign of gun shyness anymore! This dog is champion caliber now and getting better with every hunt! Here are some pics of my hunt last Sunday. Lots of birds working and we canned 12 ducks and 6 geese when all was said and done. Gracie rocked!!
I will keep you informed as our second split opens this Saturday and The ducks are thick in our marsh. We move from primarily open water to VERY dense marsh and 8 foot cattails. She is ready!

Haynes,
A quick note. Early morning before seeing patients. 30 MPH wind out of the south. 3 of us went to our marsh and stood on one of the open areas. Gracie sat on a fallen tree for 20 minutes without budging. 18 ducks in 20 minutes and gracie cleared the hole once I released her from her "perch".
I am still amazed that she sat on this elevated fallen tree and watched us fill the pond with flight after flight and she never moved till I sent her. She defines STEADY! Picture of my friend and Gracie on her "Perch". Just an update.

Hi Haynes,

Parker is almost 6 months and he's just a shade over 47 lbs. If you look at the toy dog in the 12 wks pic and compare it to the 6 month a pic you can see a size difference. When we first got him he could barely carry that toy.

Here is a list of accomplishments:
• Learned the basic commands
• Plays "ball" 8 wks
• Retrieved his first bird (a young robin) at 10 weeks
• Nosed out a magpie in a tree from scent
• Nosed out two dead birds Jeff gave me and "froze" on both (just like Casie)
• Has won over Boulder (almost 10 yrs) after just about being ate) by Boulder.

He is truly a gifted and talented dog. Aside from the occasional shredded newspaper and tree trimmings in the house he is the best. He actually ate (shredded) Davis homework one day.

Parker has won over the hearts and soles of Mac and D. And has Barb wrapped around his little paw.

D and I can't wait to go hunting with Parker. D and I shot trap for the first time last night he was about 30 out of 50.

We give thanks to God every night for Parker. Thanks to you guys.

Thanks again,

Don

Haynes,

Long time no chat. Thought I would send an update on the puppy I purchased from you in August. She has grown so fast it seems but I am having lots of fun with her. She has great drive and eagerness to retrieve and has been receptive to training. I started her with live pigeons and quickly graduated to retrieveing Ruff Grouse shot in the field. I took her on her first true hunt at 4.5 months on a week long trip to Southern Saskatchewan. I mainly had her with me for our upland hunting as the geese and ducks were still too big for her to retreive (she was missing K9s at that time too). She did a great job on her first partridge flush and retrieve and even had a triple on partridge later in the week. She also had her first pheasant retrieve which was a beauty - tracking a wounded bird along a creek bed, through the water and onto an island. I definitely had bragging rights that night!

I attached a picture of her sitting with her first two pheasants. The black lab on the right is also from your Kennel - Dr. Bill Deyo bought her I think 3 years ago.

Hope all is well,

Patrick

Haynes,

This is Denis from St. Louis I met you when I picked up my pup last December. He is everything you said he would be and if ever I need another dog you will hear from me.

Haynes,

Hope all is well. I wanted to send you a picture of Moose the Beech/Butte pup I bought from you Christmas ’06. As you know I live in downtown Chicago and do not get to hunt as often as I would like. I have taken Moose duck hunting on several occasions and he is solid, however his upland field experience is limited as I have been too busy to take him. Here is a picture of a recent pheasant hunt and I have to tell you he was pretty dang good. His training lately has been limited to me working with him in the back alley behind my garage. As you can see by picture he caught on Quick. Thanks for breeding such fine dogs that have great instincts for hunting and also make a wonderful pet. I hope to make it out there to hunt with you soon.

Best,
Frank

Haynes,

Here are two pics of opening weekend in northern Oklahoma. Great morning! Lots of ducks and the topper was the dog work put in by Gracie. 12 ducks, 12 retrieves. 4 cripples, 2 of which were diving. For a young hunter, repetitions in the field are the key. This will be here first heavy season with 500 kills over her more than likely. She answered this morning like a master hunter. Steady to the wing: we stacked 5 to 6 flights into the pond before moving on them, and Gracie never budged! Steady to the gun; I held her for 4 downed birds before sending her. I NEVER had to say "stay" or "wait". She just sat dead still with her ears up watching these birds pour in and swim. I loved it. When I released her, she worked like a seasoned veteran. Hard into the water and right back to hand----ready to go back. I am so very proud of her. This was the hunt that she stopped being a retriever and became a HUNTER! What a future this dog has. Don't forget, she lost her first season to my having made her gun-shy! She trained for a year to get rid of my mistake and now is just plain GREAT!!!

More pics to come this season!

Haynes,

I just returned from an annual hunting and fishing trip to Lake of the Woods in Ontario. It was Max's first real hunting trip and he did not disappoint. The instincts he shows at 10 months are impressive. From the start, I had considered sending him off to one of your recommended trainers, but the sheer joy of having him around my family made me change my mind. Long story short, I have trained him myself. I have no doubts that he would likely be further along were he trained by a professional, but quite frankly, I am overjoyed with how well he did on this trip, and wouldn't change a thing.

Attached is a photo of him with the most successful hunt. His retrieves ranged from the routine-25 yards right in front of him - to 70 yard retrieves though rice and muck filled bays. I may sound like a broken record, but I could not be happier with Max. I'm really excited for the fall waterfowl season to open here in OK. I continue to get numerous compliments about him from my hunting buddies as well as complete strangers. He is also a irreplaceable part of my family. My boys adore him.

Keep up the great work. I'll keep you updated throughout the season.

Haynes:

Sorry it took me so long to write.

The TT puppies Jim Sturgill and I bought from you in December '06 have been a joy. Jim's
black bitch (by Spud) has been one of the most natural bird dogs I've seen in 34 years of dealing with bird dogs of all breeds. My yellow (photo attached) has been a soft-mouthed reliable retriever from the start. She has a tremendous amount of common sense. Our '06 TT pups made three trips to the plains in '07 and got better with each trip. They were just 11 months old when we traveled to Montana. We took a total of eight dogs (including three from your kennel) and the TT labs showed the greatest stamina and good temperment. The moderate size of your dogs seems to give them a great advantage in the uplands over larger-framed labs. And it sure is nice to have dogs on the ground that hunt hard but don't require constant handling. I'm sold on your bloodlines. In fact, I've promised one of your puppies to my nephew as a wedding present this year. I sure hope he likes his new wife as much as I know he'll like his puppy......

Have a great summer. I'm sending more photos of our fall hunts in another email.

Haynes,
Here's a picture of Max (Beech x Brambles, 11/07 litter) and Gracie (William x Bute, '06 litter) at a recent trip to Lake of the Woods, Ontario. Gracie belongs to the Dr Bill Bondurant family, also of Oklahoma City. Gracie's first season ended on a great note. She really started to get after it, so we are excited to see her work this fall. Additionally, she is a great family pet.

Max's training is going really well. He consistently works doubles and is also doing well on blinds. All retrieves are delivered to hand. He has never been force-fetched. He loves training and loves being in the water. He is an absolute joy to be around and is mature beyond his 8 months in the field and the house. He is also a great looking Lab, which is no surprise to anyone who has seen Beech or Brambles.

I am thrilled beyond words with Max. I'm fairly certain that the Bondurant family (Bill's brother, Charles, also has a Double T female) feels the same way about Gracie. Quite simply, your dogs are amazing. Their demeanor in the field and in the house is just phenomenal.

Anyone thinking about getting a British Lab need look no further than Double T!

Sincerely,
Nick Kaiser

Haynes,

I appreciate the email and the support that you and millions of other Americans have shown. It is an honor to serve.

I'm attaching a picture of Max (Beech x Brambles) with my oldest son, Jack. He is a great puppy with a phenomenal disposition. Training is going well. I'm truly looking forward to hunting season!

Thanks again,

Haynes and Family:

We picked up Sadie in September, she is out of a Meg X Spud litter and we have been impressed! She is such a magnificent animal, she has great lines and style and is so muscular. Her temperament is outstanding, she is so calm for only being 6 month old. At the same time when you show her a dummy or a bird she seems to "flick a switch" and turn into a retrieving machine. This dog is naturally quiet she does not bark or whine whatsoever. Sadie also has proven to have a great nose, a great hunt and is naturally steady. My force fetch program with her only lasted 2 weeks, she is quick to learn and please. I believe that she has everything she needs to know inside of her and I just have to show her the way. I would recommend this kennel to anyone who wants a calm, quiet lab that still has tons of drive. Haynes, I do not know how you did it, but we think we have the perfect lab, thank you so much!

Scott and Rachel Rumisek

Dear Haynes,
I noticed you don't have any waterfowl pictures in you're Puppy References, so I thought I'd send some and tell you a little about Emma (Brambles x Clyde). She is my 3rd Labrador (1st British). I've trained all three myself, and Emma was by far the easiest to train. She came as advertised, biddable, calm, intelligent, soft mouth, and a retrieving machine with a great nose.Through all the phases of training she was eager to please. I took her to Manitoba Canada on a week long goose hunting trip when she was 10 months old. She handled herself very well and retrieved about 70 geese. She is a house dog and we leave her and my 12 year old Lab in the house for 8 hours at a time with no problems. She loves people and is great with my 3 year old granddaughter. As you can tell, I'm very proud of Emma and I would highly recommend Double TT Kennels.
Thank You, Haynes...

Haynes,
Sadie is 13 months old and has been a pleasure to have around hunting and with my family. Her parents were Brambles and Clyde. She is definitely a dog to be proud of. This is my first hunting dog and the quality of your kennel is becoming more and more apparent when I compare her trainability to some of my friends' hunting labs. She truly will do anything asked of her. She is very intelligent, quick, and has a great temperament. While out hunting, she is still continuously learning and developing her skills, when at home she is very loving and wants to cuddle up and be close to everyone. Thanks you very much from the Sutherland Family.

Haynes,
Just a quick update on our 14 month old male and a couple of pics from hunting in South Dakota and with the family. This is Barley out of Bracken and Belle that we picked up last December. Great temperament with the wife and our two kids (Mia 4yrs and Mason 2yrs old). Barley is real quiet around the house and in the duck blind. He is a great hunting dog on ducks as well as pheasant and retrieves everything. My group shot over 100 pheasant on this trip and his nose and retrieving ability was the highlight of the trip.

Thanks again,

Dear Haynes,
First I want to apologize if my English isn't correct ;-)

I heard from Alessa you asked for the Austrian Beech-Puppies, how they are. Well, I thought I send you some infos and pics of Lilyen (Leadhills Hunting Glacial Lilyen). She's now 10 months old and develops very well, a tall and beautiful bitch (the most beautiful im my eyes, of course!).

She's always "smiling" and good-humored, carries everything that fits into her muzzle ... in training she's very talented, fast as the wind and has a good nose (loves to search).

We now hope with Martina, that Gale will be pregnant again and that Lilyen's brothers and sisters will be born well in January!

Best regards,

Haynes,
My daughter (Lindsay Nichols) purchased Max from you in December. He turns 1 year old in just a few weeks. He has achieved Good Citizens Title (before he was 6 mos old) as well as completed 3 levels of obedience. He will be attending hunting training with Sharp Retrievers in November. He will be training in Vienna, GA. He is able to track and retrieve ducks and has been able to since he was about 5 months old. He loves the water and will retrieve bouys as long as they are thrown. He is very smart, obedient and well behaved dog. His coat is gorgeous! We are very excited about the training that he will be doing in November and hope to have him ready for field trial competition early next year.

Thanks so much for such a wonderful dog!

Rebecca Nichols

Haynes,
Here is a picture of me and mystarted pup TTF High Caliber. She is out of Spud and Sadie. We had alot of fun getting to this point. We keep you informed on how she is doing.

Haynes,
It has been almost a year since I have talked to you. I picked up my dog, Gracie, from you 1 year ago. She is amazing. I have trained many dogs myself, and have never trained such a hungry, thinking animal. Early,I made a cardinal mistake. I shot over the dog as a puppy. Instant Gun Shy!!! I called MANY trainers and researched many publications on Gun Shy dogs. All agreed, the owner MAKES the dog gun shy, it is not born that way. I accept FULL responsibility! Most sites and books said, "forget it , the dog is ruined. There is no hope of recovering after gun shyness." Believe me, Gracie would run away and crawl up under the undercarriage of my suburban up to 1 mile away.........She was gun shy! I promised Gracie that I would not give up on her, as she is an amazing dog. One article out of 55 that I read said that if your lab will look you in the eye, you have a one in a million lab, and that lab is capable of anything. I took that to heart. Gracie will stare you down for minutes at a time. She stares directly into your eyes. It is great!!!

I took that to heart. Every day after I left the office or the hospital, I trained her. Tiny steps at a time. I slowly worked in a toy gun then a retriever trainer at 50 yards:each night walking one stride closer. After 9 months, I have reached a mile stone!!! Tonight, I was able to take her out to one of my hunting fields. She sat and stayed ROCK SOLID on my left. I was able to throw 4 dummies and shoot at each after the throw. She did not mind any of the shots. She retrieved the quad multiple times over to hand and I mean.......Perfect!!!! The gun is no longer a hated item. She is also able to do absolute blind quads on only hand signals using the best nose of any lab I have ever had!

I think it is pretty impressive that in spite of my total stupidity (early firing) and producing full gun shyness, that she has trained into a champion status blind quad lab that is so steady to shot and will hold for a week if I asked her to. Wow, what a dog. (what a foolish owner!) As a family dog, she is unreal. My children worship her, and she clearly mothers them. Gentile, attendant and soft.........I love to just sit and watch them play and swim together. She has been to Canada twice, the Texas Gulf 5 times, Mid Missouri 2 times and on many other family vacations in the last 12 months. This will be her first hunting season starting Sept 1. I typically hunt 110 to 120 days from Sept. 1 to March 30. She is excited!!!!!!!

I have sent several people to your kennel and most have purchased dogs. They love them. My brother from Columbia Missouri love his yellow.....Maize. Training well! I hope all is well with you all. I just wanted to throw you a line as an update on Gracie. FANTASTIC. The next time someone tells you that a gun shy dog cannot be trained, have them call me. Yes, it takes a daily commitment and slow going, but my girl is awesome!

Have a great day, and here is a picture.
I will send you pics throughout the season, as my group of hunters kill 500 + ducks, 500 + dove, geese, and pheasants a year. Come down, and hunt with us. You can see her for yourself!
See ya
